Dispose My Medicine

MedReturn Boxes

Did you know the most dangerous leftovers in your home are the ones found in your medicine cabinet? May individuals who abuse drugs first get them from a relative or a friend.

You can prevent this by disposing of your unused medications. Unused medications should NOT be flushed down the toilet, washed down the sink, or thrown away in the trash. Flushed medications enter our water system, where they may have negative effects on the environment and eventually the health of individuals in our community.

Instead, you can deposit your unused medications in one of the MedReturn boxes located throughout Elkhart County. This is a FREE and ANONYMOUS service (you can even remove any medication labels or simply place your pills in a plastic bag).

It’s as easy as that! Law enforcement agencies will take it from there.

Please note, this service is for Elkhart County residents. This is not intended for clinics or medical practices to dispose of their unused/expired samples.
